Buried Alive Model

Often referred to as its code name, the Buryman Script, the Buried Alive Model was to be found on the final story of the Pokémon Tower in the spot of what has been replaced with the Marowak ghost. According to the scripts assigned to it, the Buried Alive Model was intended to be the "boss" of the tower. Upon reaching the top floor, the following conversation would have taken place.

Buried Alive: You're...here.
Buried Alive: I'm trapped...
Buried Alive: ...and I'm lonely...
Buried Alive: ...so very lonely...
Buried Alive: Won't you join me?

After this, the battle would have been initiated. One in "battle view," the Buried Alive Model appears to be a decaying human corpse attempting to crawl out of the ground. It has been programmed to have two White Hands, a Gengar, and a Muk. Strangely enough, a protocol for Buried Alive's actions after defeat wasn't written.

In the case of the player defeating him, the game would freeze. However, an unknown programmer is said to have wrote a speciic ending that was supposed to play once Buried Alive was defeated.

In this ending, Buried Alive was to have stated, "Finally, fresh meat!" followed by several lines of Gibberish. He was to have then dragged the player into the ground surrounding him. The scene would finish with a typical "Game Over" screen. However, in the background an image of Buried Alive devouring the player was to have been shown.

Especially strange are the protocols for after this scene. The cartridge was to download this image to the small internal memory contained in the Game Boy, overwriting the title screen that normally accompanied a Game Boy turning on.

Afterward, whenever the Game Boy was started, the player would view this same image of Buried Alive devouring the player character from the Pokémon games as a sound file known as staticmesh.wav was played. The intended purpose for this effect, unlike many of the other factors leading toward LTS, is unknown.

  1. Ahem. The "internal memory" on a Gameboy is Mask ROM. You cannot overwrite it. And besides, it is 256 bytes long anyway, not nearly enough for a Pokemon sprite, PCM audio and the code needed to set up the Gameboy to render such things.

  2. Also Pokemon has no "Game Over" screen I THINK THIS STORY IS FLAWED.

  8. True fact: the original Pokemon games didn't actually have sprites, just directions on how to write images on the screen. There can't be a hidden and unused .gif on the cartridge because the game didn't use .gifs for Pokemon or Trainer images. Glitch Pokemon referenced memory that didn't hold the right data, so that's why their in-game "sprites" are random splays of garbage. All future generations of Pokemon had real images and a default "glitch pokemon" sprite.

Thus, there can't be an unused character sprite/model, but data for writing an unused character model.

  9. What if you use ditto in the buried alive battle? O_o

    1. you would probably glitch out and never be able to use that pokemon/game ever again because you cant turn your pokemon into things that are not supossed to be in the game.

  10. @anon
then you would lose the battle, duh
but the model would eat ditto instead

    1. The model would not eat a ditto that doesent even make sense that he would eat your pokemon instead of you because he is suppossed eat you not your pokemon

  11. I have to disagree with the anon saying 256 bytes isn't enough space. You forget that data used to consume a lot less memory than it does today, therefore is isn't completely impossible that the image of the trainer being consumed by the Buried Alive sprite. Plus, I really wish I'd stop looking this stuff up around midnight...

Source on that, please. I've done some excessive research, and all I find do mention sprites being used.

  13. how sad is that, Inunah you idiot. These are the older games, G2 and on - (Gold, Silver, etc) it was whited out.
Red and Blue.. and yes, Red and Green.. Possibly Yellow.. You blacked out. I guess in the later versions of the game up through black & white they thought "pc" to stick with whited out, instead of the traumatic "blacked out"
You post here and you don't even know what we're talking about. Pathetic much?

  15. How is that even sad? Whited out and blacked out, what's the difference? It's just one word! And with the story saying "Game Boy", it was obviously referring to the OLD games and not the new ones. The only thing that's "sad" here is your appalling grammar and stupidity.

  20. I reallly want to see the buryman thing I type it in on youtube and theres some bitch saying "oh, i gues my game doesnt have it" It was supposedly on the very earliest versions of the game in spring to summer of 1996 in japan giving them well enough time to get it out of there and it was just there randomly, the original lavender town was supposed to make an annoying glitchy sound or a flash of a ghost sprite (Missingno). The us gets everything much later on and so before the lavender tonw syndrome could "hit" the other consumers, they probably destroyed the catridges so that no one would know about this if the people who bought it didnt throw it away or flush down the toilet after seeing something like this. Youd have to find a not used 1996 version of red and maneuver thru it to get to lavender tower and see what happens. This was 1996 when pokemon was first stepping out to the light there could be a slim possibility that Buryman was there -before the us versions along with the new releases of the japanese versions got out- and just as something fucked up in the system. The frequencies of lavender towns original make the fucking missingno's shape in the sound waves. I kid you not. It was a part of the "lets do some Grudge shit to the kids and annoy them with this ghost flashing and sound glitching" it happens within a split second in the sound you have to slow it down a little. It was originally there for theatrics (lets face it, besides the music lavender town has nothing going for it) and the missingnos ghost would glitch the sound out because the the technology wasnt there to sync them correctly and the image is there in the sound because some how the system didnt explode right there when it happened, They couldve been going for that alone and then ended up not realizing something hellish like that. I dont know its soooo dark Id pay someone to see the legit buryman. I still wonder what the white hand on your shoulder is about ..

  22. Strange Facts of Pokemon are:

The fact that the "creepy pastas" of:
1.Lavender Town's music = creates inducing severe headaches and some child suicides.
    2.Buried Alive "BURYMAN"
3."WHITE HAND" as a possible lead the little kid in Lavender Town who asks
    -Do you believe in ghosts?
as a response of "NO" he would say
-Haha right so i guess that white hand on your shoulder isn't real.
    4.Gary's RATICATE
All ends up to a condition known as "Lavender Town Syndrome"

--"lavender Town Syndrome" is said to cause: --
    *"SEVERE HEADACHES"
    *"LUNG HEMMORHAGES" (oddly enough)
    *"EPILEPTIC SEIZURES"
    *and mass child "SUICIDES"

People say that the Beta Testers of these games were children and most of the children who were beta testers for this game are said to have commit suicide shortly after.

    What happened to pokemon?
Pokemon should be a fun and family friendly game.
The stuff in this game sounds like it should be in
    "SILENT HILL"
Marowak's GHOST wasn't that big of a deal though was
never really introduced into the pokemon world
but still can be found in any pokemon game still to
this day though via codes (more specificaly even DSI
Action Replay by using the pokemon modifier)
As found in other pokemon games it is known as
    MISSINGNO.
    In example while playing pokemon
    Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
it can be found using the pokemon modifier while typing
    1. 0 followed by pressing LEFT Bumper and then CLEAR
(This action causes it to find the pokemon GHOST)
    2. any number (-/+) then RIGHT Bumper and then CLEAR
(This action chooses the Lv. of the Poke... though in this case no matter what the pokemon will always be Lv.0 with the health meter showing as a fainted pokemon)
    3. Which in my case the #3 which is identified as "ADAMANT nature" then press SELECT and then CLEAR
Upon engagement of battle it would show a blank space for the name Lv.0 and no health if you were to attack it would say
"...... used ...... but there was no target" and the match would end but if you caught it with a master ball
it would say ---- Was caught
---- data was registered and would show

Registration number 000,the picture as white boxes, the name as ---- -----,the pokemon as the ???? pokemon, the pokemon type as NORMAL,and the description as ????????

Though you think youve caught it there is no such real thing so it doesn't appear you have the pokemon.

    2. First of, all of that is Bullshit, the Lavender Town Syndrome was capable of giving those without fully developed ears headaches ONLY headaches (to some) because of the highpitched sounds, and the Beta testers were 4 fully grown men because hirring Children costed too much, and was hard, so it's all lies

  24. Every Pokémon game do use sprites for the Pokémon.
Each sprite has data hidden within the game, the game has to use a code that points to the image otherwise the sprite won't be loaded.
With glitched Pokémon with glitched sprites, the game uses code that points to unexisting sprite data which results in a garbled sprite.
Gameboy Color Pokémon games don't use wave samples for the sounds for the music.
The story about the 'Buried Alive' character may have been more believable if it said that it happened in either Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, LeafGreen, FireRed, or Emerald, as they use wave samples for the instruments for their music.

  25. This story seemed alright at the beginning, but I highly doubt that Pokemon Red Version could have overwritten those files - I mean come on guys if the Nintendo sign was really replaced by that particular image, Nintendo could have sued Game Freak for infringement of copyrighted content

THEY SHOULD OF HAD A DOUBLE BATTLE!

  31. the reason theirs no game over screen is because town 0b is a key point in the code so theirs 12 not 11 key points... this would explain why theirs no game over screen. town 0b you go their after being the champ and you find buried alive were you should never win you are supposed to die that's how the game would have went. but in pre alpha they decided your character dyeing would be to.so the made it to were you cant go to it and just cut that out of the story. so it ends at the Plato not your death. though this story has been warped so much no most of it isn't correct. as for lavender town its so creepy well that's why the story says it takes place their... this is Pokémon red.

  32. U all actually don't have to believe in all that stuff. You see I also had a pokemon blue. If u actually don't wanna get scared.. play fire red.

  33. Those ghost sprites in pokemon red blue and yellow, green scared the s***t out of me. Fire reds ghost sprite was okay nothing scary at all they also removed those high frequencies in the lavender town music so I say that fire red or leaf green, and the other ds games are the best.
